Gender-based Violence charities are struggling under the weight of the need in South Africa, let’s stand beside them in this fight and be the difference.

South Africa (24 January 2025) – How is it that we still live in a society that treats women so poorly? Gender-based violence is a societal issue that causes harm to more then just the women affected by it. It leeches into the fabric of society and causes unrest to all aspects of life. When we empower women, we change society; we have the power to not only change South Africa, but the world!

‘Wathint’ Abafazi, Wathint’ Imbokodo’ (you strike the women, you strike the rock). That was a lyric from the struggle song sang during the Women’s March of 1956 as South African women refused to give into increasing oppression. The march is part of our history to this day. We honour the women who were brave and feirce every year on the 9th of August. Their cries for change are still being echoed today. South Africa is better, but it’s not its best! Society needs to do more.

South Africans are tired of harrowing headlines detailing gender-based violence statistics or the latest heartbreaking act of abuse against a woman. This year, let’s all take a stand alongside the organisations fighting for change and help them to make a difference.

Sadly this year, we removed more organisations than we added. Many closed their doors due to funding drying up. It’s heartbreaking to see these causes fighting so hard for change and not being seen. If we do anything in 2025, let’s amplify their voices. Let’s help them be seen! These are all the causes to support in 2025.

Please note that this is a working list, so keep sending through your charities, and we will keep adding them!
