This year, let’s all commit to making the lives of our seniors a whole lot better; that means more quality time, talking about life and learning about how they contributed to our world today. Here is how to help:

South Africa (22 January 2025) – Giving back to our seniors is one of the truest forms of love. These men and women are the reason we are alive and on this Earth today. They gave us our parents, paved the way for our families and hold all the knowledge we could ever dream of knowing. But our seniors need us!

The ageing population (globally) is living longer and longer, a part of life that many have not entirely planned for. Many of South Africa’s elderly find themselves struggling financially or feeling lonely. We can support these golden oldies by lending a helping hand, listening to tales of their wild youths or just making sure they have something to keep them busy.

Since the start of the pandemic in 2020, the Good Things Guy team has been working on these charity lists every year. This list features all the organisations working to protect and support the elderly. Whether offering affordable care and housing, keeping them busy with crafts and classes or feeding and clothing those in need; these organisations are making a difference to our society’s most vulnerable elders.

There are many ways to lend a helping hand, whether financially, by donating food items to care homes, visiting with delicious baked goods, donating entertainment such as books, DVDs, puzzles and board games, or even wool (so they can knit granny squares for charitable causes – that list is on its way!). Making a fuss of our seniors means there is less sadness and loneliness in the world. So, without further ado, let’s get helping!

Please note that this is a working list, so keep sending through your charities, and we will keep adding them!
