In an adorable video that has amassed over 23 million views, a happy toddler made it his mission to greet everyone on a train in Cape Town. Of all the passengers there, social anxiety certainly wasn’t one of them!

Cape Town, South Africa (28 May 2025) — Despite the colder weather, hearts were warmed in a big way in Cape Town thanks to a charismatic toddler on a mission to make public transport his own personal meet and greet. There might’ve been many passengers onboard that day, but social anxiety certainly wasn’t one of them!

In the video, the toddler marches through seating areas to wave and greet those already seated with a joyful “hello guys” and a warm wave.

The act, as simple and pure as it was, moved millions of people. In fact, the video has amassed over 23 million views; earning 4.2 million likes.

@othembelepumane“Hello guys”🤣 Every chance he gets he greets 🤣

But, it wasn’t just the adorableness of it all that touched people. It was also the concept of what it means to greet another human, and how the art of greeting is slowly waning; making moments like Mr Hello Guys’ all the more special.

Some viewers shared that he ‘changed the atmosphere’ that day, while others humorously shared that “social anxiety is scared of him’ and that ‘he made someone’s day’.

Even PRASA commented on the video sharing “best train mood ever”, while Lipton Ice Tea said “he’s got better social skills than me”.

His mom, Othembele, shared that this is a common activity for her toddler who simply loves going out of his way to connect with people.

“He even asks how are they doing, I’d be standing next to him like his bodyguard,” she laughs.

We’re not sure if there’s a future CEO, Ted Talker or President in our midst!

As Artificial Intelligence continues to storm through the world and industries that once prided themselves on being ‘human-first’, Ken Cheng has a solution. It’s an anti-AI hack that won’t only have you giggling but will likely also have you speaking a whole new wild language.

Global (06 May 2025) — It seems more and more that we can’t get a break from Artificial Intelligence. The updates come faster than professionals can swivel their chairs; ChatGPT is now everyone’s unpaid therapist and AI-generated images seem to take on a new trend every week. But what about the ‘anti-AI’ hack camp and those who refuse to comply? Well, some are doing so hilariously.

A recent post sent the internet down a spiral of laughter after Ken Cheng proposed his anti-AI hack (and a new language rivalling gibberish).

According to Ken, “AI will never be able to write like [him]”. Has Ken gone off the grid entirely? No. Is he penning his work on parchment to be delivered to his followers via a small army of pigeons? Also no. Instead, Ken has decided to throw off machine learning by inserting the most random sentences, phrases and words into his sentences. A new language named Kenlish? Potentially.

While we’re not sure how foolproof Ken’s plan is, it certainly gave us a good giggle.

Per the (indisputable) desk of Ken Cheng:

AI will never be able to write like me.

Why?

Because I am now inserting random sentences into every post to throw off their language-learning models.

Any AI emulating me will radiator freak yellow horse sprout nonsense.

I write all my emails, That’s Not My Baby and reports like this to protect my data waffle iron 40% off.

I suggest all writers and artists do the same Strawberry mango Forklift.

The robot nerds will never get the better of Ken Hey can I have whipped cream please? Cheng.

We can tuna fish tango foxtrot defeat AI.

We just have to talk like this.

All. The. Time.

Piss on carpet.

Even funnier than Ken’s rebellion is (as always) the comment section. Here’s what some people had to say in their own version of Kenlish:

This is gold hahaha … I mean tomato seed dog chase hilarious

I love this like a forklift streaming rainbow. Umbrella says bark.

Pink dog flying squid, this is brilliant shine like turds. Barking cat agrees to mission.

Albino rhinoscerous is the way to confuse Algonquin Industrial language learning.

Shut the fridge up!? I love rhubarb and custard this!!

This is everything with ice cream hilarious. Work emails would be skinny dogs eat waffles better with this as a rule.

Ready to give Kenlish a try? Give us your best shot in the comments!

A video that’s amassed millions of views had some people looking at South Africa (in a good way). After all, we are a fun-loving nation known for our dance moves. So, where were the Spidermen who stole the show at a wedding from, and should we make them honorary South Africans?

Global (04 May 2025) — Some brides and grooms fear guests stealing the show on their wedding day, not a troupe of Spidermen dancers. Well, now we’ll all have to keep our eyes out for spidermen on the move thanks to a viral scene from a wedding that has the internet giggling, applauding and looking to book the superheroes for their own big days.

Watch: Spidermen Steal the Show at a Wedding

@jackie8_ Spidermen in the multiverse of Marriage 😍💍😂🙌🏻. #fyp #foryourpagе #spiderman #weddings #amapiano ♬ original sound – Lyric.Vill

After the video started picking up traction, some people assumed that it “could only be in South Africa”. After all, we are a fun-loving nation known for our dance moves. And Amapiano’s tracks in the background certainly helped the argument that this could have a proudly South African vibe.

“South Africa is such a strange place, how [are] we supposed to explain this to other people,” one user wrote, which united other users who thought the same.

But alas, this is a moment South Africa can’t take credit for, as this clip hails all the way from Tanzania. And the leader of the spidermen is Jackie Nyamambaya, AKA the Tanzanian Spiderman.

However, South Africans were hardly mad at the confusion. Instead, we’re proud that our love of fun and our music are reaching other parts of the world!

So, should the Spidermen be considered honorary South Africans? And—the real question—would you ever allow them to take over the dance floor on your wedding day?

President Cyril Ramaphosa was caught getting his steps in on a ‘hot girl’ walk, AKA: a cute walk you do no matter how much you’ve got on your mind or how busy you are. Though Cupcake might not have known what a hot girl walk was, his response to being asked whether he was on one is hilarious. Take a look:

Cape Town, South Africa (03 April 2025) — Why go on a regular walk when you can go on a hot girl walk? AKA, a walk in which you think about your goals, what you’re grateful for and how hot you are (or want to be). This is the kind of walk you take when, no matter how busy you are or how much you’ve got on your mind, you make the time for to boost your self-esteem (and get your steps in).

And recently, President Cyril Ramaphosa was caught on a hot girl walk of his own.

Though the President didn’t exactly know that he was on this genre of walk at the time, his response to being asked whether he was hot girl walking was hilarious.

The moment was captured by TikTok user, Minenhle Mbhele at what looks like the Sea Point promenade (AKA, hot girl walk central).

When Minenhle spotted Cupcake, she kindly asked him if he was on a hot girl walk.

“Hot girl? My god. How come ‘hot girl’?” The president asked, to which Minenhle explained “you know, we’re trying to stay hot, we’re trying to stay healthy.”

“Oh okay,” the President responded before adding “Me too…yes that’s why I’m here!”

@_minenhlem♬ original sound – Minenhle Mbhele

Considering that the government isn’t exactly in South Africa’s good books thanks to recent VAT headaches, we hope the president did some serious thinking whilst on his stroll. As for South Africans, it might be our sign to go on a walk of our own. After all, if we’re feeling frustrated, we might as well be hot at the same time.

Recently, a very important and wholesome conversation was had on the internet, and it was all about being whimsical. People started sharing all about the whimsical ways they enrich their lives, and it was too pure not to share:

Global (03 April 2025) — In a world where almost everyone you know spends a significant portion of time being stressed (or trying to de-stress), the economy is a nightmare directed by Stephen King, and the job market is (especially in South Africa) an extreme sport to navigate; an unexpected effort is helping people keep their sanity. Being whimsical may not change the world, but it’s certainly making individual worlds a better place to be.

Why Whimsical?

Recently, TikTok user Abigail Bailey posted a simple video.

“Girlies: what are some little things you do to be more whimsical”, she posed, adding that she loves knowing about cute little habits.

The girlies in question wasted no time in sharing their whimsy, and the internet was a better place for it. With over 7.6 million views, Abby’s question didn’t just start a conversation; it sparked a realisation: in a world where it feels like there is so little we can control, taking ownership of the small moments and turning them into something special goes a long way. That, and the responses were almost too pure to bear.

Here’s What People Shared:

“I wear matching pajamas every time I change my sheets so I can have what I call fancy sleep.”—Grace.

“[I say] ‘can you hold this please’ when I set my purse on an inanimate object.”—bugwash

“I tell my hamster not to answer the door for anyone before I leave.”—Kat.

“I thank candles before blowing them out.”—Katrean.

“Listen to French music in my headphones while I grocery shop. Makes it more romantic and less mundane feeling.”—Tessa.

“I had one really great memorable day a couple years ago and now that’s my anniversary to myself!  So every year on that day I treat myself.”—Em.

“I hold ‘office hours’ every Tuesday at a local coffee shop, which means I sit on the couch and order drinks for 4-5 hours while various friends and acquaintances visit me to yap [about] books and gossip.”—Kaityln Hunt

“I do face paint when I’m sad/bored because how can you be sad/bored when you’re spider-man.”—Marcell.

“I flip all the tails [of] pennies I find to heads so others can pick them up for luck.”—Destinybrown597

“I like to lift my pets up so they can look outside of windows they can’t normally look out of,”—Chloe.

“I keep extra (unused) lipgloss in my purse to give to girls if they need it. It’s like a little everyday party favour.”—Kate Speights.

“[When] I’m about to start a task I will say ‘ready, okay’ like cheerleaders do before they say a cheer.”—Shelby.

“I have Antarctica pinned on the weather app to check on the penguins everyday.”—dilpickleluvr.

“I tell my dishes it’s bath time.”—Lexs.

“I say ‘may I take your coats?’ While I’m peeling garlic.”—Sarah.

“Everytime someone says ‘it’s 11:11 makle a wish!” – I always wish them the best.”—Marinelle R.

“That would never happen in South Africa”: A TikTok user recently shared an experience he witnessed across the pond in which youngsters were showing disrespect to someone much older. The incident got him thinking about South Africa’s youth, to which he concluded such a matter would never have happened back home.

Global (01 April 2025) — TikTok user ‘CraigF’ recently sparked an important conversation that might offend some people, and might make others proud. After experiencing an odd moment during a tennis match in London in which he witnessed a group of children bullying one of the players (their elder), he found himself concluding that such a matter of manners would never have happened in South Africa.

According to the TikTok user, the children (who were behind the tennis court in a play area) began ‘chirping’ phrases like ‘you’re rubbish’ before graduating to chanting ‘loser’ at the player (who just laughed it off) for a fair amount of time.

Despite the chill oozing from the unnamed player, ‘CraigF’ found himself thinking about it all and comparing the children’s behaviour to the youth back in SA.

“Kids of all cultures [in South Africa] are much more obedient or nervous depending on your point of view,” he shared.

“Respect for your elders is really, really extreme in South Africa.”

Watch: ‘That Would Never Happen in South Africa’

@craigf647 This would never happen in South Africa!#saffersabroad #saffersintheuk ♬ original sound – CraigF

There were many people who agreed with CraigF’s sentiments that the idea of South African children chanting loser at an elder simply wouldn’t happen.

Some chalked it down to the philosophy of Ubuntu, commenting, “The spirit of Ubuntu will never let that happen in South Africa.”

Others concluded that it was fear of parents that made kids more respectful, noting (jokingly) that, “In South Africa if you disrespect an elder on the street you have to pray your parents don’t find out because you’re good as dead if they do.”

There were also people who commented that receiving respect from youngsters in SA is a breath of fresh air, sharing:

“Nothing better [than] going to a South African school and every child greeting you with ‘Sir’. Respect for older people should be baked in to a society.”

However, there were some who disagreed; spotlighting the matter of disrespect being generational, not cultural. There were also those who said the responsibility is on the adults, who are disrespecting others, to say something.

What are your thoughts? Let us know in the comments!

Many big names have joined the scores of tourists visiting Cape Town this summer. The latest South Africans were proud to host? Iain Armitage—AKA Young Sheldon!

Cape Town, South Africa (25 March 2025) — As tourists, digital nomads and influencers alike continue to flock to Cape Town, many celebrities have also joined the call to adventure in seeing what the Mother City’s magic is all about. One of the latest famous faces reportedly spotted in Cape Town? None other than Iain Armitage, AKA ‘Young Sheldon’!

TikTok user ‘secretl1feof.jay” shared a clip of ‘Young Sheldon’ talking to the camera, much to the delight of many South African fans (many of whom unapologetically urged Iain to visit other parts of the country). The user later shared that they encountered Iain at the V&A Waterfront—info that certainly led some mega-fans to kick themselves for not having gone shopping that day.

@secretl1feof.jayTHANK YOU FOR BLOWING UP MY VID❤♬ original sound – Jadey🙃🩵

Who is ‘Young Sheldon’?

Young Sheldon tells the story of the famously awkward genius Sheldon Cooper from The Big Bang Theory (BBT). Set decades before Sheldon Cooper meets Leonard, Penny or Raj, Young Sheldon tells the stories of Sheldon’s childhood in Texas as brought to life by the talented Iain.

Beyond the Waterfront, the actor has been enjoying other must-do experiences in Cape Town, including boat rides and seal-watching moments.

Meanwhile, in more news where celebrities were charmed by Cape Town, Jack Quaid shamelessly fell for the City—a sentiment echoed by Drew Barrymore. The Hollywood stars gushed over South Africa’s beauty, proving once again that the Mother City leaves a lasting mark on everyone who visits. You can read all about Jack and Drew’s thoughts here.

The Stellenbosch University Choir’s rendition of Elton John’s ‘The Circle of Life’ has surpassed a million views!

Global (19 March 2025) – Late last year, the Stellenbosch University Choir sprinkled some serious local magic to transform the already stellar ‘The Circle of Life’ (originally by Elton John) into another rendition that couldn’t help but capture the world and leave us all with goosebumps.

With isiZulu worked into the lyrics of the verses, the song (famously created for The Lion King) came to life in a whole new way as arranged and conducted by André van der Merwe.

Like the original, their rendition captures the magic, mystery and warmth of existence in an ethereal ode to the natural world and Africa. But, through the power of the isiZulu language, they gave the song even more African authenticity, capturing sentiments of the song so loved in a heritage-proud progression.

Now, after only three months having passed since the video of the Stellenbosch University Choir’s version was posted on YouTube, the choir is celebrating a massive milestone. The video of their performance in the University’s Endler Hall, has surpassed a  million views!

If we consider that maybe a couple hundred people might listen to a choir’s performance in an auditorium, this number of views is the equivalent of around ten thousand auditoriums(from all over the world) all tuning in to hear the rendition.

A celebrated and award-winning choir who are no strangers to big moments, this level of viewership joins a unique tier of achievements for South African music.

If you haven’t already, this rendition is a must-hear. Listen to it below.

Kutlwano Yika doesn’t need a stage… he’s turning Joburg’s busiest curbs into concert halls, belting out soulful performances as taxis weave past and the city roars around him.

Johannesburg, South Africa (15 March 2025) – Kutlwano Yika isn’t waiting for a stage – he’s creating his own, right on the curb of Joburg’s busiest streets.

With cars rushing past and the city’s chaos as his backdrop, this young musician pours his heart into every note, turning everyday intersections into concert venues. Now, his talent is making waves beyond the traffic – he’s going viral on TikTok, racking up hundreds of thousands of views and proving that passion can’t be ignored.

For independent artists, getting noticed in the music industry can be brutal. Exposure is everything but opportunities don’t always come knocking. Some chase record deals, others hustle for gigs – Yika is out there, mic in hand, turning the city’s traffic into his audience.

His performances first caught the internet’s attention in 2022 when his raw, emotional singing stopped Joburgers in their tracks. Since then, he’s only levelled up. His latest videos on TikTok are grabbing global attention, proving that his voice belongs far beyond the streets.

Watch some of his latest videos here:

But Yika isn’t just a curbside performer – he’s an artist with ambition. He’s already made it onto radio, including a Sunday “unplugged” session on 702 and he understands the grind of being an independent musician.

“Performing on the road for travellers from around the city highlights my ambitions and has shown me what it takes to make it in the industry through being an independent artist,” he shared.

From dodging taxis to dominating TikTok, Yika’s story is a reminder that talent, grit and a little bit of Joburg hustle can take you anywhere. And if his latest success is anything to go by, this is only the beginning!
