Busi’s story is a testament to the power of a hand-up and human kindness. Found on the streets, broken and destitute, she was given a second chance to redeem her life by the compassionate members of Project Hope SA.

Kloof, South Africa (14 November 2024) – Found on the streets, severely drained, ill and broken in spirit, a woman was rescued by kind strangers who were determined to restore her health and help her escape poverty and unpleasant living conditions.

This is the story of Busi, a woman whose pain touched the lives of Project Hope SA members after they encountered her on a roadside in the Kloof area.

While she was initially hesitant to share her pain, Busi soon opened up about enduring a harrowing existence and living in the corner of an old tool shed with her two daughters.

While begging on the streets as a means to get by was never her choice, Busi’s health struggles and challenging family circumstances forced her into this heartbreaking situation.

“We embraced her with open arms and hearts, taking a leap of faith, and trusting her words.

“Together, we’ve navigated a journey filled with visits to private doctors, clinic referrals, medication trials, and transforming a rented room into a warm home,” Project Hope shares.

By working closely with Busi over the past few months to turn her life around by making sure she prioritises her health and getting her children into good schools, Project Hope has rewritten this woman’s previously bleak situation into a hopeful and promising future.

“This transformation wouldn’t have been possible without the incredible generosity of many who have supported Busi through prayer, donations, and financial help.”

The mother of two has since learned how to sew and will be able to pay full rent from the proceeds of the stunning garments she creates for her church.

Busi’s story of overcoming deep struggles and hardships, thanks to the support of those who recognised her potential rather than judging her, serves as a powerful reminder for all of us. It encourages us to extend grace to others, as many individuals are dealing with challenges and battles that we know nothing about.

It was a leap of faith and a whole lot of grace and compassion that helped beautifully transform the life of a mother in need and her two children.
