Another day, another reason to be proud of Tyla. Our superstar is hosting the 2025 Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards!

Global (16 May 2025) — If breaking pop culture barriers was a South African, it has to be Tyla.

Following what has already been a jam-packed year for the superstar (she’s done and dusted the MET Gala, claimed the title of World Artist of the Year, rocked Coachella and surpassed one billion streams for ‘Water’, to name a few), it’s officially been announced that Tyla is set to host the 2025 the Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards!

This will be the very first time that a South African will be hosting global coverage of the Kids’ Choice Awards.

Known for bringing a fun, childlike and slimy spin to traditional award ceremonies, the Kids Choice Awards orbit (you guessed it) kids choosing their favourites in the entertainment world.

From voting for the Kid’s TV shows that they love the most to artists and even villains, there are a plethora of categories for up-and-comers as well as industry veterans to vie for the most unfiltered opinions around—that of children.

As such, hosting such a widely publicised and A-lister-centric ceremony is no small gig. It speaks volumes about our firecracker’s popularity around the world and places her in good steed to get even bigger hosting opportunities (we’d hardly be surprised to see Tyla host the Grammys one of these years).

The Kids’ Choice Awards will be live and airing on 21 June.

Meanwhile, in more Tyla news, her latest track, ‘Bliss’, is out, proud and ready for you to listen to!

From Coachella to global charts, Tyla’s new single Bliss proves she’s not just riding the wave… she’s making it.

Globe (09 May 2025) – There’s something special about watching one of our own take on the world… and win. Tyla, South Africa’s global music sensation, has just dropped her brand-new single Bliss and fans across the globe are already calling it a masterpiece.

After teasing the track during her show-stopping performance at Coachella last month, the full version of Bliss finally landed and it’s everything we hoped it would be.

Smooth. Sultry. Sophisticated. And proudly South African.

Tyla, who has quickly become one of the most exciting voices in music today, continues to blend her roots with modern global sounds in a way that only she can. Known for her genre-defying mix of pop, R&B, and Amapiano (which fans affectionately call Popiano), Tyla has carved out a lane that feels refreshingly her own, and with Bliss, she’s only pushing the boundaries further.

The track was produced by Nolan Lambroza, Dylan Wiggins, and NovaWav, and is layered with a hypnotic Afrofusion beat that wraps around Tyla’s breathy vocals like a dream. Drawing from the nostalgic rhythms of old-school R&B while embracing futuristic pop flair, Bliss is the kind of song you put on and just let play… again and again.

In her own words, Tyla describes this new chapter as an evolution.

“I’ve changed a lot in a short amount of time because I was kind of forced to – with how fast I had to adapt to everything. I don’t think it’s going to be the same energy at all, especially with what I’ve started making. It’s different, but also still Tyla.”

And fans are eating it up. Social media has been buzzing since the drop:

“Tyla never misses! Her voice is pure magic, and ‘Bliss’ is exactly what the title says — pure bliss 🖤🔥 on repeat already!”

“The queen of Popiano is back and it sounds like this album is gonna be fire 😩🔥🇿🇦

“What a time to be South African ❤🇿🇦

From Johannesburg to the biggest stages in the world, Tyla continues to fly our flag high with style, grace and fierce talent. And Bliss is another reminder that the future of music has a proudly South African soundtrack.

At the glittering 2025 iHeartRadio Music Awards, South Africa’s Tyla took another triumph as she won the World Artist of the Year award!

Los Angeles, USA (24 March 2025) — If achievements were bees, South Africa’s Tyla is honey. As the 2025 winner of the iHeartRadio Music Award’s World Artist of the Year, Tyla’s trajectory into stardom continues to track significantly. Not to mention, she’s the first South African to win this title.

Tyla was nominated for three awards in total, including the R&B Song of the Year Award for ‘Water’ (which surpassed the billion stream mark recently) as well as Dance Song of the Year for which the Marshmello remix of ‘Water’ stood as a strong contender.

Despite being beat out in these categories by Muni Long and Charli XCX, Tyla still toasted other artists like Central Cee and Burna Boy to claim World Artist of the Year, which marks yet another celebratory moment within her spectacular career.

Since she grabbed the world’s attention with her talent and personality in 2023 (attention that hasn’t wavered ever since), Miss Tyla has been no stranger to hitting musical milestones like Mariah Carey hits high notes.

On many of these occasions, she made history in the process—like when ‘Water’ became the African song to achieve both Platinum status and double Platinum status in record time and when she became the first South African to win a VMA (Video Music Award).

Tyla also won her first Grammy at just 23 years old and claimed the International Achievement Award at the SAMAs!

An unapologetically proud South African, the Jozi starlet spotlights South Africa almost as much as South Africa spotlights her. Whether it’s explaining local slang or talking about home fondly, Tyla certainly hasn’t forgotten her roots.

In fact, she recently brought a little cultural cuisine magic into the global conversation when she cooked a South African dinner for Vogue. Not long after, Nara Smith took to prepare a little pap for her followers!
