What happens when someone who’s always worked in the background is asked to step into the spotlight? If you’re Darian Smith, you use that light to illuminate the path for others.

South Africa (28 May 2025) – For 25 years, Darian Smith has quietly walked a path few are brave enough to take. A path lined with sacrifice, service and silent victories. He’s never chased awards, applause or accolades. In fact, when he found out he was being honoured with the Humanitarian Award at the Annual Pllum Awards recently, his first instinct was to decline it.

Yes, really.

You see, for Darian, serving others has never been about recognition. His work has always been driven by purpose, not platforms. And yet, standing on that stage, with his son beside him, Darian came to realise something deeply important: sometimes the good needs a microphone too.

“I’ve believed and lived the understanding that our true rewards are not here on earth,” he shared, “but await us in heaven… I genuinely questioned whether I should accept the award at all.”

That reflection, that internal wrestle, became the heart of a message the world needed to hear.

Because for too long, we’ve been told that true humility is invisible. That to do good, we must do it quietly. But as Darian so eloquently pointed out, how can the next generation believe in kindness if they can’t see it?

“Would you rather the newspapers keep feeding the public stories of doom and gloom?” he asked, recalling a painful memory when someone told him he didn’t deserve to be featured two weeks in a row. “Would you prefer that, than seeing stories of hope, upliftment, empowerment, and light?”

That comment stayed with him. And in a world where gangster culture, quick cash and empty fame often steal the spotlight, Darian’s story is a reminder that our children deserve better role models. Real ones. Ones who serve, uplift and quietly change the world without needing the world to notice… but who step forward when the moment calls for it, so that others might be inspired to follow.

“I took my eldest son, Kale, with me that night because I wanted him to see it. To witness first-hand that recognition doesn’t only come with fame, or money, or violence. That integrity, character, and purpose matter.”

This isn’t just a story about an award. It’s a story about what happens when we decide not to shrink. When we honour the builders of our communities, the quiet warriors, the ones who give without asking for anything back. It’s about acknowledging that shining a light on good does not dim its purity. It amplifies its impact.

And that’s exactly what Wendy and Karl Conner have done through the Pllum Awards. By creating a space to recognise the everyday heroes among us… the teachers, the caregivers, the selfless changemakers, they’ve reminded us that honouring humanity is a vital part of expressing it.

Darian didn’t leave with just a trophy. He left with a flame, one that’s been burning for 25 years and now, somehow, burns even brighter.

“I left that evening not with a trophy, but with a flame inside me, burning stronger than ever. A renewed commitment to keep showing up. To keep building. To keep planting seeds of hope in the soil of a broken world.”

Because this moment isn’t just about him, it’s about every person who has ever wondered if doing good is enough.

It’s about reminding ourselves, and especially our children, that real strength lies in compassion. That greatness isn’t measured in what we accumulate but in what we give. That servant leadership, integrity and showing up for others are values worth lifting up and passing down.

Being a good human isn’t outdated. It’s essential.

And Darian Smith’s journey is proof that even the quietest acts of love and service can spark the kind of change our world needs most.

He helped make peri-peri global but now Robbie Brozin is turning his fire toward something even bigger… the soul of a city.

Johannesburg, South Africa (28 May 2025) – There’s something incredible that happens when you sit down with someone who not only dreams of a better South Africa… but rolls up their sleeves and actually gets stuck in to make it happen.

On this week’s episode of Good Things with Brent Lindeque, I had the absolute privilege of chatting to Robbie Brozin (yes, that Robbie Brozin), the co-founder of Nando’s, the man behind Goodbye Malaria, and the driving force behind the growing movement that is Jozi My Jozi.

You might know him because of peri-peri chicken and those cheeky Nando’s ads but his purpose has always been deeper than spice. These days, his mission is clearer than ever: he wants to fix Johannesburg. Not for clout, not for likes, not for a quick win… but because he genuinely loves this city. And it’s that kind of passion that’s hard not to be inspired by.

“Joburg’s got soul,” he tells me. “We just have to clean it up a bit and show people how amazing it already is.”

Robbie’s story is a proudly South African one, from building an international food brand rooted in local flavour, to fighting malaria across Africa, and now investing his time, energy and heart into revitalising Jozi.

He’s not shouting from the sidelines; he’s hands-on, funding artists, cleaning up spaces, building bridges between business and community and lighting a fire under what could be possible if more people joined in.

What struck me most in our chat is how much he believes in us. In South Africans. In our creativity, our resilience, our humour and our ability to overcome.

“The answers aren’t somewhere else,” Robbie says. “They’re right here. In us. We just need to believe it.”

And that’s what this episode is about. It’s about possibility. About taking ownership. About finding your lane and doing something, anything, to make where you live better.

Robbie Brozin is one of those rare humans who makes you want to do more. Be more. He reminds us that it’s not about waiting for someone else to fix things. It’s about starting. It’s about showing up. It’s about finding the good and growing it.

And that, my friends, is a good thing. A really good thing.

Diagnosed with stage five kidney failure at 15, DK found new life through his mother’s kidney… and he’s now inspiring others to become organ donors too.

Pretoria, South Africa (27 May 2025) – When Ditshegofatso Kgobisa was just 15, his world changed overnight. The vibrant teenager, known as DK, was suddenly too unwell to keep down even a meal. What followed was a whirlwind of emergency hospital visits, a devastating diagnosis, and a journey that tested, and ultimately celebrated, the strength of a loving family and the incredible dedication of healthcare heroes.

Now, just a few years later, DK is thriving, back at school, back to dreaming big and back to being a teenager with a whole future ahead of him.

And it’s all thanks to one extraordinary act of love from his mother, Rosemary.

It was the 8th of December 2021 when DK’s mother got the call that would change everything. Their trusted family doctor, Dr Lilian Sanyane, urged the family to get DK to the emergency department immediately.

Within hours, DK was admitted to Netcare Montana Hospital and diagnosed with stage five kidney failure. Already managing epilepsy, the teenager now had to face a new and terrifying condition. The kidney failure brought on dangerously high blood pressure, eventually leading to a haemorrhagic stroke that required emergency surgery.

“For a parent, there are no words. We didn’t know anything about dialysis at that stage, and we were scared,” Rosemary recalls. But amid the panic, a team of healthcare professionals stepped in – not only with medical expertise but with a plan, and with hope.

That’s what dialysis looked like for DK, and it became part of his routine for nearly a year. The National Renal Care (NRC) Montana’s acute dialysis team stepped in quickly, and DK began sessions at the hospital just days after his diagnosis.

“A supportive family is everything,” said Mary Mosetlha, who was the unit manager of NRC Montana at the time. “DK’s parents, his brother, aunts, cousins – they didn’t just drop him off. They stayed, they supported, they cared. We all became a family.”

Dialysis isn’t just a treatment; it’s a lifestyle. And for young patients like DK, the emotional and psychological toll can be just as intense as the physical one. But through it all, the Kgobisa family showed up. Again and again.

Very early in DK’s treatment, the family began talking about transplantation. Rosemary, her husband, and their eldest son all stepped forward to be tested as potential kidney donors. When Rosemary was identified as the best match, there was no hesitation.

With the support of their transplant coordinator, Sister Nthabiseng Sono, the family prepared for surgery at Netcare Jakaranda Hospital in November 2022.

“The kidney started working immediately,” Rosemary says. “Within days, DK had his energy back. He was literally running around the hospital! I told him, it feels like I gave birth to you twice. But I wouldn’t have it any other way.”

The bond between DK and his mother is now visible in more than just shared DNA.

“I appreciate my scar a lot,” Rosemary says. “It reminds me of the gift I gave, and the love I have for my son.”

Today, DK is 18 and back at school. He’s passionate about music, acting and dreams of becoming a music producer.

“I want to thank my family for all the love and support, and especially my mom, who gave me the kidney that saved my life,” he says.

He also offered heartfelt thanks to the entire healthcare team.

“Thank you to every nurse and doctor who helped me. You were my lifeline.”

The Kgobisa family’s story is not just about survival, it’s about showing what’s possible when love, faith, and medical care come together.

“We want to share our experience to show that good outcomes are possible,” Rosemary says.

Their story is a reminder of the power of organ donation, a gift that not only saves lives but restores families, futures and hope.

If there’s one thing Rosemary would like to leave us with, it’s this: “Please consider becoming an organ donor. It’s the greatest gift you can give. A second chance. A second life.”

One thing South Africans will do is support one another! After seeing firsthand the compassionate and free care that chronically ill young patients receive at St Joseph’s Intermediate Paediatric Care, Regan Bagley and Jermaine Carelse were moved to get out of their comfort zone and give back to the worthy charity, which works so hard to give children hope that they can thrive beyond hospital walls.

Cape Town, South Africa (20 May 2025) – Two Capetonian heroes are set to take on one of the province’s toughest mountain bike races in honour of who they call the city’s real heroes: the patients and staff of St Joseph’s Intermediate Paediatric Care.

Regan Bagley (L) and Jermaine Carelse (R), who have a background in law enforcement and firefighting, respectively, will endure three days of rugged trails and steep climbs on their bikes across the Western Cape as they compete in the Wines2Whales cycling race in October/November.

More than just an adventurous expedition, the pair are taking on the challenge to raise money and awareness for St Joseph’s, a non-profit children’s hospital located in Montana, Cape Town, celebrating its 90th anniversary in 2025.

St Joseph’s is a 175-bed facility that provides free, transitional care to children from vulnerable communities across the Western Cape. Referred by hospitals and healthcare providers throughout the Cape Metropole, these young patients face chronic conditions such as cerebral palsy, infectious diseases, brain injuries, neurological disorders, and cancer. At St Joseph’s, they receive expert multidisciplinary, rehabilitative, and restorative care—bridging the critical gap between hospital and home.

Bagley says he and Carelse were driven to take on the cycling challenge by the commitment of the St Joseph’s staff, who they describe as “The Avengers”.

“I’ve been all over South Africa doing safety and security, putting my life at risk. But when you look at the individuals who take care of these young patients, and have to wipe off tears and motivate and create an atmosphere of positivity and healing every day. They are the real heroes, and that inspires me. I salute them for that,” says Bagley.

Riding for change

Bagley first heard about St Joseph’s when he was searching for outreach programmes to partner with in Cape Town. After visiting the hospital and meeting the young patients and the staff who cared for them, he knew it was an organisation worth working with.

“We walked through the hospital, meeting the various therapists and support teams, seeing the little smiles and the tears.

“We saw the sanctuary, where children are taken when they pass away, and families spend the last moments with their little ones—it broke our hearts. As a father, it stays with you. You’re meant to protect your child. The dignity and love provided by St Joseph’s staff to these families is admirable.”

Bagley’s involvement with St Joseph’s was motivated by a desire to provide a positive male role model. Some of these children have parents who can’t visit, either due to transport affordability, even for those living in nearby communities, or social circumstances, and some have no father figures at all.

Beyond visiting the facility and engaging with the patients, he wanted them to know that there are men who care about them and want to make a difference in their lives.

Inspired by courage

As road cyclists, Wines2Whales will be outside of Carelse and Bagley’s comfort zones, but the duo is planning on ensuring they are as ready as possible come October. The race is known for its tricky terrain and extreme elevation, with riders expected to notch over 4,500m of elevation across the three days of racing.

They have a strict training plan in place and will take on a series of shorter offroad races in anticipation of the main event.

Carelse explains that when the going gets tough, they will remember who they are riding for and why they are riding to raise money for St Joseph’s.

“It’s not just about getting the time that you desire. It’s about the drive to succeed for St Joseph’s, which is driven by the love I have as a parent. I believe that will help us get over all the obstacles we’re going to face.

“We’re going to be riding for that entire hospital. We’re going to be riding for the staff. We’re going to put all our attention on the fact that if they are able to give 200% every day to help those kids, we can do it,” Carelse says.

Beyond wanting to help the young patients at St Joseph’s, Bagley and Carelse want to inspire all South Africans to make a difference in the lives of others.

“If we all stand together, we can make the burden a little bit lighter for the parents and the awesome staff who are relentlessly pushing on day after day to help children with life-limiting chronic illnesses feel better, live better, smile and play, because every child deserves that. Children are our future,” a passionate Carelse adds.

To support Regan and Jermaine’s ride for St Joseph’s or to donate, visit St Joseph’s Intermediate Paediatric Care’s donation page and use the reference Wines2Whales.

From the dusty rugby fields of Bloemfontein to the world stage in Sacramento, Rayno Nel has just become the strongest man on Earth… and he did it for South Africa.

South Africa (19 May 2025) – South Africa, we’ve got a new hero. And he just became the strongest man on the planet.

In a historic triumph, 30-year-old Rayno Nel shocked the strongman world on 18 May 2025 in Sacramento. In his very first World’s Strongest Man final, the former rugby star clinched the title by the slimmest of margins, just 0.5 points, edging out defending champion Tom Stoltman. Nel became the first man from outside Europe or North America to win the 48-year-old competition. In the final Atlas Stones event, he loaded his fourth stone mere fractions of a second ahead of his rivals, sealing a 47–46.5 victory in an epic showdown. By standing atop the podium he has become the first WSM winner from South Africa, the continent of Africa and the southern hemisphere.

Nel’s journey to the top was anything but ordinary. Born in Upington and raised in the rugby heartland of Bloemfontein, he played for the Central University of Technology and the Free State Cheetahs. After retiring from rugby in 2019 to work as an electrical engineer, he discovered the sport of strongman. Starting in 2023, he dominated immediately, winning South Africa’s Strongest Man back-to-back and taking Africa’s Strongest Man in 2023 and 2024. He even swept the 2024 Strongman Champions League season, becoming the world series champion.

This rapid rise from local athlete to global contender set the stage for Sacramento… a “rookie turned legend” almost overnight.

At the 2025 finals, Nel stamped his authority early. On Day 1 he won the opening KNAACK Carry & Hoist, and took second place in both the massive 18-inch deadlift and the Hercules Hold. These results gave him a commanding lead (roughly seven points ahead of his nearest rival) going into Day 2. Stoltman fought back with wins in the Sunday events but Nel’s cushion was just enough. The title came down to the final Atlas Stones lift: Nel and Stoltman went head-to-head, stone-for-stone. Nel loaded his final stone a heartbeat faster than the competition, a tiny margin that secured his 47–46.5 victory.

Final standings confirmed the nail-biter: Nel 47.0 points, Stoltman 46.5, Canada’s Mitchell Hooper 43.5. In a sport often dominated by stalwarts from colder climates, a South African giant had emerged.

The reaction back home was instant jubilation. In Mzansi, Nel’s triumph was hailed as a rainbow-nation moment. He has made history as “the first African athlete to win the world strongman title in the 48-year history of the competition.” South Africans from Cape Town to Johannesburg took to social media in pride, calling it a national first.

Even South Africa’s official Government account posted, “HISTORY MADE! Congratulations to Rayno Nel, Africa’s first-ever World’s Strongest Man champion!”.

Nel himself was humble, saying he was “just over the moon” and that representing his country “feels surreal.”

“To represent (South Africa) in any way whatsoever, it feels surreal. I mean, we’re a small country with a lot of struggles. To have something like this I know means a lot to my people.”

He even quipped about post-competition celebrations, lamenting he couldn’t enjoy his favourite Black Label lager in California and would have to “try American beer tonight.”

For his part, Nel insists this is only the beginning. In a candid interview he said his progress has been rapid and he’s “still improving” every season.

“My strength came up really fast, and I’m still improving,” he said, a sign that he’s not resting on laurels.

His win has galvanised a nation. A reminder that in South Africa’s “rainbow nation,” even the strongest title in sport is now within reach.

At 75 years old, Louis Massyn is lacing up for his 50th Comrades Marathon… not for glory but for children with special needs who deserve a future filled with hope and understanding.

South Africa (18 May 2025) – At 75 years young, veteran marathoner Louis Massyn is gearing up for a remarkable milestone: running his 50th Comrades Marathon.

This living legend of athletics is turning decades of dedication into an opportunity to give back. Through this race, he plans to raise funds and awareness for BINAH and The Legacy Centre, two charities that provide vital support to children with special needs.

Massyn first tackled the Comrades Marathon in 1973 and since then he has completed it 49 times. He often says the spirit of the race and the camaraderie of his fellow runners keep him motivated.

“My motivation in running the Comrades Marathon year-after-year is actually my fellow runners… they really do keep me motivated,” he has said.

Now Louis is channelling that passion into helping others. He’s dedicating this 50th run to charity, partnering with BINAH and The Legacy Centre to support children with special needs.

“I’m thrilled to be partnering with BINAH and Legacy Center for my 50th Comrades Marathon,” says Louis. “This organisation does incredible work in supporting children with special needs, and I’m honoured to be able to contribute to their efforts.”

He has also set up a fundraising campaign on the GivenGain platform so supporters worldwide can contribute to the cause. Every step Louis takes will carry the hopes of young learners, proving that running can have a heart as big as the athlete’s stride.

Empowering Children with Special Needs

BINAH (meaning “understanding”) was founded by parents of children with autism to raise awareness and acceptance. They launched The Legacy Centre, a one-to-one tutoring programme where each child with special needs receives personalised education in a warm, family-like setting.

The Centre’s individualised programmes focus on each child’s strengths in a calm, low-stimulation environment, helping them thrive emotionally, socially and academically.

In March 2023, the organisation expanded its mission by opening Ons Plasie – a residential farm home in Oudtshoorn for young men with autism. On this smallholding, residents care for sheep, chickens and a vegetable garden, learning life skills and building confidence in a caring community. These initiatives give families hope and show how inclusion can create a brighter future for all.

“We’re excited to be a part of Louis’ 50th Comrades Marathon journey,” says Mariza van Deventer, representative of BINAH and The Legacy Centre. “His dedication to our cause is inspiring, and we’re grateful for his support.”

Virtual Comrades for Everyone

Louis is inviting runners around the world to join him through a virtual challenge. In the 50 days leading up to the race (19 April – 8 June 2025), participants have to cover the 90 km distance of the Comrades Marathon. That’s under 2 km per day on average, which can easily be done on a treadmill, road or trail. Runners will log their progress on a virtual map and share encouragement with each other. Everyone who completes the distance will earn a special commemorative medal and a certificate signed by Louis Massyn himself. In this way, friends and supporters can run alongside Louis and join the cause from anywhere in the world.

Join the Journey: How to Donate and Participate

Getting involved is easy. Louis has set up a champion fundraising page on the GivenGain platform so anyone can contribute to BINAH and The Legacy Centre. Every donation helps pay for extra tutoring, educational materials or housing costs at Ons Plasie. Even a small gift will make a real difference.

Runners and walkers can sign up for the Virtual Comrades Marathon event via the entry page and complete the daily distance at their own pace.

As Louis himself says, this is about showing love and support for families. By running and fundraising together, everyone helps create an inclusive future where every child can learn and grow.

In the end, the real celebration will be the smiles on those children’s faces, the true victory of this marathon. Louis’s journey shows that with passion, persistence and heart, anyone can bring hope and light to their community. What an uplifting milestone to cheer on and share!

A vulnerable new mom found herself alone, cold and in urgent labour at home. Fortunately, her cries of distress led concerned neighbours to alert the police. What followed was an incredible display of officers working together to help her safely deliver her precious bundle of joy.

Upington, South Africa (15 May 2025) –  Few things compare to the mixture of excitement, fear and nervousness (and discomfort) that an expectant woman feels when it is time to give birth to the little life that has been growing and developing inside her for months.

It is a significantly vulnerable time, and more than anything, a mom in labour needs all the comforting reassurance that everything will work out just fine at the end of it all.

One new mom in Upington received this comfort from an unexpected team of compassionate hearts, the SAPS police!

Found alone and distressed in her home in labour on her couch on Tuesday, 13 May, police members hurriedly attended to help with the delivery of her baby, which was already underway.

According to SAPS, members Sergeant Sehano Khalaki and Sergeant Thabo Kgomojong attended to a complaint after two women reported personally to a SAPS administration building about a woman who was screaming hysterically at one of the nearby residences and didn’t know what the situation was.

“The two members responded to the complaint, and upon arrival, they heard a woman screaming. They opened the door, and they found a woman on the couch giving birth. The baby was crying, and they both were weak and cold,” a statement said.

Sergeant Khalaki assisted the woman while Sergeant Kgomojong went for help.

The District Commissioner of ZF Mgcawu Major General Monica Sebili praised the members of Lime Acres for their act of empathy by assisting the mother who was later transported to the hospital for further assistance along with her new bundle of joy.

Witnessing our men and women in blue going above and beyond to help those in vulnerable situations is not only heartwarming but also restores our faith in the officers who are genuinely committed to serving and protecting our communities, even during the most unexpected times.

From viral laughs to real impact, Gugu Statu isn’t just delivering the #NOOZ… she’s changing how South Africans connect with the headlines.

South Africa (14 May 2025) – This week on Good Things with Brent Lindeque, we laughed. A lot. But more than that, we were reminded, again, of the power of joy, satire, and authenticity to bring us together, especially when the world feels a little upside down.

I had the absolute pleasure of chatting to Gugu Statu, the brilliant mind, voice and sass behind the now-iconic #NOOZ segment that’s taken South African social media by storm. What started out as a fun skit inspired by those infamous “Family Meetings” during COVID has evolved into something far bigger. And far more impactful… than anyone could have imagined.

“People were anxious. They were doom-scrolling. We just needed something to laugh about,” Gugu said.

And so, she took the headlines and flipped them on their head, quite literally, serving up the news with a hilarious twist, a side-eye or two and a whole lot of truth dressed in humour. But #NOOZ isn’t her only alter ego. She has also created Bebe, a character who somehow feels like your best friend, your aunty, your life coach and your hype squad rolled into one. Bebe doesn’t just share the news… she feels it. And if you’re battling to get out of bed, Bebe’s the one reminding you that you’ve survived worse and that today is worth showing up for.

With a solid background in television and production, Gugu is no stranger to storytelling. But what makes her work so special is how rooted it is in love… love for her country, her people and the shared experience of navigating the chaos with a bit of grace and a whole lot of giggles.

And here’s something else worth celebrating: each episode of the podcast/vidcast/vodcast is now being streamed over half a million times. That’s massive! And it’s only happening because of you. She faced her fear and conquered it 64 times over! Tania Morkel, lovingly called “Table Mountain’s Iron Lady,” has triumphantly completed a breathtaking 64-day challenge, motivated by her recovery from a near-fatal fall.

spar hero of the week

Cape Town, South Africa (13 May 2025) – It has been a long and deeply motivated 64-day climb up and down Table Mountain, but the ever-so-brave and remarkably inspiring Tania Morkel has done it!

Lovingly dubbed as “Table Mountain’s Iron Lady”, Tania began her personal challenge to ascend and descend the iconic landmark for 64 days in an effort to raise R64,000. This was her powerful way of celebrating her recovery following a near-fatal fall from the very same mountain in 2023 and giving back to the heroes who saved her life.

With composure and undeterred grit, she has been at it day after day, and she has finally seen her personal mission all the way through.

Yesterday, Tania was joined by the Wilderness Search and Rescue (WSAR) teams, including Western Cape Government Health and Wellness EMS medics, SANParks – Table Mountain National Park (TMNP) rangers and her family as they started up Platteklip Gorge for the final ascent in her 64 x 64 Challenge.

“Each step back up the mountain was my thank you note to the rescuers who brought me home,” Tania shares.

Her journey of overcoming a near-death experience to living life to the fullest has touched countless lives, and it’s not hard to understand why. More impressive still, Tania surpassed her R64,000 fundraising goal, with funds currently sitting at R110,556; it’s a mind-blowingly thrilling feat, how can you not be inspired?

“I hope these funds help them (WSAR and TMNP) reach the next person in need and keep every hiker a little safer,” Morkel said.

WSAR spokesperson David Nel praised her effort, saying:

“Tania’s determination on the mountain and her generosity off it embody the true spirit of volunteerism – a way of giving back to the community and making a positive impact on others.

“The generous support for her fundraising campaign will help to ensure that our teams continue to provide a world class rescue service to the outdoor communities of the Western Cape,” Nel said.

The heroic EMS paramedic who treated Tania after her fall in 2023 presented her with a bouquet of Proteas and Cape florals as she completed her last ascent, recognising her incredible journey and the spirit of gratitude that inspired it.

Tania, you didn’t just achieve a great thing, but you touched lives and are a true hero to us all!

You may remember Jessie, the brave Staffie who saved her smaller Toy Pomeranian companion from a family swimming pool? Years later, footage of her heroic act has resurfaced and gone viral on The Dodo!

Johannesburg, South Africa (13 May 2025) – Back in 2021, something truly soul-stirring took place in the backyard of a Johannesburg couple’s home. While Byron and Melissa Thanarayen were away during the day, their dog Jessie managed to pull their smaller Toy Pomeranian companion, Chucky, from the swimming pool.

The gripping pet pool rescue was captured on CCTV footage, and Good Things Guy reported all about it back then as well as how Jessie received an animal hero award from the Boksburg SPCA where she was adopted from.

Now, several years later, the video footage is still pulling at the heartstrings of viewers far and wide – globally, in fact. Less than 24 hours ago, Byron shared the video with The Dodo, the American news publication best known for sharing the best animal-related stories, and it went viral!

With over 5.8 million views (at the time of writing this), Jessie has become a world famous hero and touched animal lovers’ hearts all over again!

“To see a rescue dog go from being a rescue dog to being the rescuer is just an amazing, amazing thing,” Byron says in the clip.

“I definitely think people underestimate dogs ‘cause the unconditional love they have – it really is real. And it’s beautiful. It’s absolutely stunning to see,” Melissa adds.

And we couldn’t have said it better ourselves. Well done, again, Jessie girl!
