We are celebrating a local MMA champ today! Caleb Swart demonstrated exceptional skill and determination at the IMMAF African Championships, and he has a gold medal around his neck to prove it!

Johannesburg, South Africa (13 May 2025) – Johannesburg’s very own Caleb Swart proved his exceptional striking skills and mental focus at the International Mixed Martial Arts Federation (IMMAF) African Championships in Luanda, Angola, and it was a gold-certified performance!

The prestigious event held on Tuesday, 6 May, brought together and showcased the continent’s finest amateur MMA talent.

Caleb began his championship run by impressively defeating an Angolan wrestling champion with a rear-naked choke submission.

He went on to dominate his second opponent from Mauritius and won the bout by unanimous decision, his school, Northcliff High School, reports.

As Africa continues to be a driving force for the IMMAF in the global MMA landscape, we’re delighted that one of our very own is proving to be a force to be reckoned with!

With a shining gold medal to prove it, Caleb is now the African MMA Champion in the Youth A Welterweight 77.1kg division.

“This is the second gold medal that Caleb has earned in this annual tournament. Congratulations, Caleb, on such an impressive result,” Northcliff High congratulated.

Caleb Swart is undoubtedly a rising star to watch!
