Need motivation to keep your running routine up or push yourself more? The Love Challenge 2025 will see runners tackle 105kms in 21 days to support The Secret Love Project! Here’s how to throw your hat in the ring:
Cape Town, South Africa (12 May 2025) — If the winter blues are starting to settle in and you’re struggling to find the motivation to stick to or start your running routine, The Secret Love Project might just have the answer to help you get into your groove for good. The Love Challenge 2025 is around the corner, and everyone is invited to lace up in support!
The Secret Love Project (SLP) is a non-profit dedicated to uplifting the homeless. Not only does the organisation shift narratives about homelessness and remind Cape Town that a little love can go a very long way, it also actively provides people in tough situations a means to change their own narratives.
People experiencing homelessness can transform their lives through SLP by selling heart stickers across the City of Cape Town. This way, sellers are able to feel a sense of responsibility and agency again by working for an income; all while receiving skills development and emotional support through the SLP team.
The Love Challenge is a way to support the heart of the SLP: the people experiencing homelessness. The big goal this June is to make winter a little kinder to those on the street.
“Help us provide warmth, dignity, and protection for those sleeping rough this winter,” share the SLP team. “Every step you take helps someone stay dry. Every rand raised goes directly o keeping our homeless community dry this winter.”
The Challenge:
- Runners are tasked to complete 105kms in 21 days while fundraising for SLP (R4,000 minimum).
- There are no rules to how many kms you run a day, so long as you total 105kms by 28 June 2025.
- The challenge kicks off on 8 June and ends on 28 June 2025.
- Prizes include a weekend away, pendants of appreciation, mystery prizes and of course, the knowing that your runs are contributing significantly to another human’s wellbeing.
