The White Lotus actress Aimee Lou Wood has always rocked her real teeth, despite bullies, worries about landing work and everything else that comes with authenticity. Now, she’s finally being praised for her conviction, and we can all take notes.

Global (27 March 2025) — There are a lot of reasons to watch Season 3 of The White Lotus—the clever jabs at elitism, Parker Posey’s iconic Southern accent and all the flavours of drama that come with each episode. Despite the superficial world many of the super-rich characters come from (and expose) during their Thailand vacation, the contrary is true for many of the actors. One actress who has been challenging superficiality for years is the incredible Aimee Lou Wood (who plays Chelsea), and she’s getting her flowers after years of being bullied.

See, unlike almost everyone else in Hollywood, Aimee Lou Wood rocks her real teeth. Forget the veneers, Aimee’s teeth are her own, and she’s all the more gorgeous because of them.

In what Aimee called a full circle moment, people are finally praising her decision to keep her teeth as is. In fact, the actress has been praised by everyone from beauty giants at Vanity Fair to fans around the world for keeping it real. Why does this matter? Well, considering that we live in a world where we are all suffocated by the superficial and artificial at every possible interval, seeing the authentic shine is no small feat.

Speaking on the Jonothan Ross Show, Aimee said “I can’t believe the impact my teeth are having.”

But I can believe it, writes Good Things Guy’s Ashleigh Nefdt.

I, like many women, grew up with magazines (and later social media) telling us how to look, how to definitely avoid looking, and how to never look under any and all circumstances… until next week when the trend ‘allowing whatever was once deemed a no-no’ kicks in, of course. Later in my life, I worked in beauty media where I saw firsthand how the industry turned opinions into decisions on what was beautiful.

With all this in mind, I echo the praise of the thousands of women looking up to Aimee. There is nothing braver than being yourself in spite of criticism. And there’s nothing more beautiful (to me) than this brand of courage.

Because we’ve all been guilty of staring at ourselves in the mirror and considering all the things we’d change if we had the resources. But, perhaps if we looked a little longer, we might realise something else:

The same thing we find to be a flaw is the same thing that adds a character and charm only we will ever have. We don’t love the Mona Lisa because she’s the most beautiful woman who ever lived. We love her because she is a rare piece of art. It’s not the perfection that makes something valuable– it is uniqueness.

As more and more people attempt to match the same beauty standards (the term ‘iPhone face’ talks a lot about this), the less individuality there is. ‘Beauty’ in this way becomes boring. And, since trends change quicker than we can charge our phones, history shows us that what we might dislike about ourselves today might just become tomorrow’s biggest attraction (just ask anyone who plucked their thick eyebrows to death and now wishes they could have their old brows back).

Aimee inspires others to find beauty in what makes them unique, which is especially important for young people who haven’t even grown into their looks yet. Her teeth are not just teeth, they’re a symbol giving others permission to rock their own rarity.
